Trunk-or-Treat @ Cecilton Carnival Grounds
Oct 27 @ 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Community Members,

Are you looking for an evening of safe, Halloween family fun? Please come join us for our Annual “Trunk-or-Treat,” on Friday, October 27, 2017 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Cecilton Carnival Grounds. Members of the community have worked together to provide families with a safe alternative to trick-or-treating. Children can dress up in costume (nothing too scary and appropriate shoes please), dance, and trick-or-treat safely in a circle from one uniquely decorated trunk to the next, while filling their treat bags. The fun doesn’t stop there! Cecilton Fire Company will have food and drinks available while children dance to music from a D.J.

On the night of the event, each participating vehicle will receive a registration number that must be posted in a visible area on your trunk. Only trunks with a registration number visible will be judged. If you are going to participate in the trunk decorating, please arrive at the carnival grounds between 4:00 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. to park and set-up in the designated spots only. We would also ask that you plan to stay until the conclusion of the event for safety concerns in regards to vehicle movement. An announcement will be made when it is safe to leave the trunk judging area. Those participating in only the trunk-or-treating portion of the evening may arrive by 6:00 p.m. and their vehicle will be parked in a separate area. If you don’t have a trunk to decorate, but would still like to hand out treats, you are more than welcome to set-up an area with chairs along the decorated trunk area. Trunks are very much needed! The larger the circle of trunks, the longer the fun will last! Please remember this is a kid friendly environment and there is no smoking or alcohol permitted on the carnival grounds.

The categories for trunk judging are as follows:

  • Scariest
  • Local Church Organization
  • Funniest
  • Most Creative Theme
  • Kid Friendliest
  • Business/Organization Most Creative
  • Business/Organization Funniest
  • Best in Show “Fire Company”

Prizes will be awarded to the top winner in each category. Some examples of themes for your trunk are:

  • Harvest/Fall
  • Sports
  • Holiday
  • Kid’s theme (Disney)
  • Animal
  • Movie
  • Fishing
  • Camping
  • Pirate

The Trunk-or-Treat is a family activity and an adult must accompany all children. There is no cost for families to attend! All that we ask is that you please bring approximately 500 individually store bought wrapped treats to pass out during the event. So get those trunks cleaned out and your creative juices flowing. We are looking forward to seeing you at this fabulous fall community event!
