The Cecil County Sheriff’s Office and the Cecil County Departments of Emergency Services and Health have observed a significant increase in overdose events, including several fatalities, during the past few weeks.
If you or someone you know uses illegal drugs or misuses prescription drugs, please be aware that using these potent drugs may lead to an overdose, even when used in small amounts. Individuals who elect to continue substance use should exercise extreme caution. Never use alone. Have Narcan available.
Substance users are encouraged to seek treatment. Family members, friends and anyone else who may come in contact with someone in active substance use can receive no-cost training to carry the overdose-reversing medicine Narcan. For treatment and information on Narcan, please call (410) 996-5106 or visit rewriteyourscript.org.
As always, call 911 immediately if any concerns arise.
Cecil County Health Department, in partnership with the community, strives to improve the health of Cecil County and its residents by providing leadership to find solutions to our health problems through assessment, policy development and assurance of quality health services and education.
