March ~ It has been such a fun month recognizing women in our community who are currently working in a field that is unique to them.
Today, we’re featuring Gladye Jacquette.
Gladye was born and raised on a little farm in Rock Hall, Maryland. Life on this little farm, sparked her passion for Agriculture.
She attended, Rock Hall Elementary and Middle School, Kent County High School and graduated from Virginia Tech, earning a degree in Agribusiness. Go Hokies!
She’s a salesperson at Scheeler Seeds, LLC.
“I’m a seed salesperson but It’s more than seeds. It’s about farming. Farming is family. I get to know our farmers and growers on a personal level. I get to know them, their families, their farming and growing needs. I share in their triumphs, losses, experiences, memories, excitement in their families milestones, achievements and more.”
“When I graduated from Virginia Tech, I worked as an intern for an agricultural research company. In October of 2019, I was offered an opportunity at Scheeler Seeds.”
“Here, I manage the office, attend trainings on our products, and latest technology. I order and disburse seeds, provide consultations to make sure our farmers, growers are using the appropriate products to meet their needs.”
Tending to customers while I was there, It was apparent that Gladye is a master at the forklift and can easily sling a 50 lbs. bag of seed over her shoulder.
Cole, Moe and Lincoln accompany Gladye to work every day. They love to rest at her feet while she works at her desk, play fetch when she’s outside and Cole randomly opens the office door when he needs her attention. Alerting her when customers arrive.
