Recognizing local women during the month of March for the unique and very important role they play in our community.

It’s Women’s History Month and we’re so excited for the opportunity to recognize and celebrate the contributions women have made and are making. Here in our little town of Cecilton, we’ve decided to recognize and celebrate women through the month of March who are currently working, volunteering in positions or fields that are unique to them. An opportunity to share their contributions and experiences.

Today, we spent time with Operations Manager Megan Pleasanton at Mega Materials, Inc. Mega Materials, Inc. is a landscape material supplier. I was given a tour and educated on the services and supplies they offer. Offering anything you may need for your landscape projects. It’s a roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty type of job according to Megan. This is her sixth year working full time for her father’s business. A business she helped name at 7 years old. Let’s call it Mega for Megan she told her Dad and the name stuck.

Megan graduated from Bohemia Manor High School and Goldey-Beacom College where she earned a degree in business. She is responsible for day to day operations, inventory, assisting customers with their needs, operating equipment which includes a front end loader and dump truck. She really enjoys working for her Dad’s small business and helping the surrounding communities with any and all home improvement projects!

In closing, she says It’s such a happy feeling working here. Thank you so much Megan and Mega Materials, Inc. for being great neighbors and community investors. Before I left, I was able to observe Megan assisting Patricia Griggs with her project. Patricia mentioned that she just happens to run an 11 acre farm. Time well spent with two amazing women.
